P-26 crash picture of Barksdale Field Pilot Lt. Frederick I. Patrick, who was killed on a cross-country flight on February 22, 1934. The plane serial number 33-46 flipped over on its back shearing off the headrest, subsequently breaking Patrick's neck. The damage to the airplane was considered repairable. As a result of this accident, Boeing strengthened and raised the headrest height.
